OWN THE STREETS
Free to roam in its natural habitat, the GSX-S1000 gives street performance a sharper edge. Smooth, controlled handling. Dynamic acceleration.

POWERFUL ENGINE
The strong, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 999cc, inline-four engine is designed to provide smooth throttle response and controlled acceleration. Ventilation holes between the cylinders reduce pumping loss within the crankcase so the engine can deliver more power and torque. Long-stroke GSX-R engine design has broad low- to mid-range power and torque that is ideal for street riding.

PISTONS
Aluminum pistons, engineered with use of Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis, are cast with optimal rigidity and weight
|
IGNITION
Long-tip, 10-hole fuel injectors on each 44mm throttle body improve fuel atomization, while the automatic Idle Speed Control (ISC) improves cold starting and stabilizes the engine idle. The digital ignition fires iridium-type spark plugs that increase spark strength and combustion efficiency, contributing to higher power, more linear throttle response, easier engine start-up, and a more stable idle. These quality components also last longer than conventional spark plugs.

TRACTION CONTROL
Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control System* lets the rider control the throttle with more confidence in various riding conditions. As a result, the rider can enjoy sport riding with less anxiety. There are four traction control modes (1, 2, 3, and OFF) that the rider can easily adjust at rest or on the fly via a handlebar-mounted control. The difference between the modes is their sensitivity to road conditions.
- Mode 1 is the lowest sensitivity level-most suitable for skilled riders or in conditions that have good road surface grip (sport riding on good, smooth roads).
- Mode 2 is a moderate sensitivity level-suitable for most riders or in conditions that have varied road surface grip (city riding, regular road conditions).
- Mode 3 is the highest sensitivity level-suitable for road conditions where the grip may be limited (wet or cold surfaces).
- OFF disengages all traction control features.

TRANSMISSION
The SCAS clutch increases plate pressure under acceleration, yet acts as a slipper clutch to smooth the engine response during engine braking and corner entry. This large-diameter, wet multi-plate clutch uses a precise cable-activated release, providing the rider with superb friction-point feel.
|
STRONG STOPPING POWER
Dual floating front brake rotors and Brembo Monobloc brake calipers, plus an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)**, deliver controlled stopping power. Recent refinements, such as new front brake hoses, yield improved stopping performance with better feel at the lever
|
RIDING POSITION
Matte black aluminum Renthal Fatbar handlebar is standard equipment offering excellent riding ergonomics with great vibration damping. The reasonable sport riding position is created by a carefully crafted relationship between the Renthal Fatbar, footrests, and seat. The low seat height of 815mm (32 inches) contributes to the sporty, yet upright riding position and aids rider confidence at stops.
|
SUSPENSION
Twin-spar aluminum frame and fully adjustable KYB-supplied suspension delivers controlled handling. Link-type rear suspension, with arched aluminum swing arm and a single shock absorber that features spring preload, is seven-way adjustable with rebound damping force adjustment.

SDTV - Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System
Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel-injection system. In SDTV induction system, each throttle body barrel has two butterfly valves, a primary valve controlled by the twist grip and a secondary valve controlled by the ECM based on engine rpm, gear selection and the position of the primary valve. The secondary butterfly valve opens and closes to maintain ideal intake air velocity, improving high combustion efficiency, thus resulting in a linear throttle response, increased low-to-mid range torque.
|
SCEM - Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material
Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing.
|
SRAD - Suzuki Ram Air System
The Suzuki Ram Air-Direct (SRAD) air intakes are positioned close to the centreline of the fairing nose – the position offering optimum intake efficiency. This results in better intake efficiency, increasing engine power in high speed. * The technology is used in GSX-R1000, 750, 600 and Hayabusa.
|
STCS - Suzuki Traction Control System
Suzuki’s traction control system continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and gear position sensor, and quickly reduces engine output when wheel spin is detected. Engine output is controlled by managing ignition timing and air delivery to ensure smoother traction control operation. As a result, the rider can enjoy more comfortable long-distance riding, with less stress and fatigue.
|
SET - Suzuki Exhaust Tuning
Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system, which uses a servo-controlled butterfly valve to modify back pressure and tune the pipe to match engine rpm. At lower rpm, the valve closes, increasing back pressure and improving low-end torque. The valve progressively opens as engine speed increases, reducing back pressure and increasing mid-range and high-rpm power.
|
ABS - Anti-Lock Braking System
An electrically controlled Antilock Brake System (ABS) that produces stable braking force under various road surface conditions. The system helps avoid wheel locking when there is a sudden change in road surface during braking or when an excessive braking force is applied. The system monitors wheel speed 50 times per wheel rotation and matches stopping power to available traction. * Depending on road surface conditions, such as wet, loose, or uneven roads, braking distance for an ABS equipped vehicle may be longer than for a vehicle not equipped with ABS. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.

Easy Start System
On a normal motorcycle when starting the engine, the rider needs to press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. With the Suzuki Easy Start, all you need to do is one quick push of the starter switch, just like starting a modern car engine. The ECM recognizes the signals and keeps the starter motor working for a specified time.
